The propagation of religion by the saints in India

Author – Labib Mahfuj Chisty

Throughout the ages, in every country, in every town, the sacred life of the great saints has repeatedly echoed in the world. Since the present time, religion has been propagated in the world by the holy souls, the saints.

They are the ones who show the people, who are covered with the qualities of the soul, the simple and correct path of humanity. Sometimes they have to endure great oppression due to the opposition of the ignorant. Even then, they leave behind the incomparable joy of liberation for fallen human beings like us. Only by following which can our desired success come.

The call of liberation from the darkness of the world, the call of rising from blindness to light, the call of rising from animality to humanity, the call of rising from the grave to the illuminated afterlife, – the saints of Allah have appeared to deliver the message of greatness that is transcended in selfhood from door to door.

We have been asked to follow them again and again, our only goal is to follow their path, because they are the ones who have achieved goodness.

Establishing religious peace in India
Throughout the ages, great men have been sent to every country and every nation to destroy ignorance. Through whom the ignorant human society has received the lesson of humanity.

In whose path the then India – which was dominated by ignorance and darkness, had become a great graveyard of untruth and ugliness. Where the human race, which had been past the age of reform, was dying under the influence of caste and tribal divisions, the unequal policies of Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras, untouchability, immorality, apostasy and all kinds of superstitions.

In such an environment, where inhumanity and violence were proudly reigning over human principles, the great liberator of humanity, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), was sent by Sultanul Hind Khwaja Muinuddin Hasan Sanjari Ajmeri Chishti (RA) to establish religion.

Khwaja Baba’s Religious Propagation
Thanks to the dedicated religious propagation of Aliqul Shiromani Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti (RA), today we have the Mohammadan religion in India. Aliye Kamel’s spiritual power, insight, divine knowledge of the unshakable truth, and the radiant face of light, all forced the deprived people of India of that time to bow their heads before the immense brilliance of Khwaja Baba.

Islam was established in India not by the force of the sword, nor by the fear of the bloodthirsty eyes of the commander, but by the great spiritual saint, Sultanul Hind, Garibe Nawaz, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s equality, generosity, brotherhood, universal love, faith, devotion, glorious deeds, along with the impeccable and beautiful qualities of the Mohammadi religion, that is, the innate human religion.

Bringing people to the seventeen paths
Khwaja Baba has accomplished the true propagation of religion in India through his devoted followers. At that time, about 9.8 million people were blessed to be initiated into the religion of humanity by the hand of Khwaja Baba and take refuge in the cool shade of peace. “Perhaps that is why some writer said, “If Khwaja Baba had not preached Islam but had preached the religion in his own name, then perhaps we in India would not have known Islam even today.”

The success of Khwaja Baba in spreading Islam was due to his strong faith, hard work, deep spiritual connection with the Holy Quran and Hadith, spiritual power that spread radiant influence, immense love for the Messenger of Allah, selfless service to humanity, complete implementation of the religion of Mohammad and complete loyalty to the Tariqa, etc.

Khwaja Baba’s life
He was born in a place called Sijistan, Iran, on 19 Jamadiul Awal 530 AH to Khwaja Ghiyasuddin Hasan (RA) and in the womb of Umm al-Wara (RA). He traveled to places like Bukhara, Samarkand, Syria, Hamadan, Kirman, Tabriz, Astarabad, Herat, Balkh, etc. to gain knowledge and finally, at the age of 32, he went to the famous Pir-e-Kamel Ali Hazrat Khwaja Osman Haruni (RA) of Mashhad, located in Shams Kunj of Koh-e-Firoz. He became a disciple and dedicated himself to spiritual pursuits.

Later, he traveled from Arabia to Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan, first to Lahore and then to Delhi and from Delhi to Ajmer, and settled there. Through various events, he established the Deen-e-Mohammadi in India.

Due to Khwaja Baba’s immense sacrifice and determination in spreading the religion, there are more than 500 million Muslims in Bengal, India today.

Khwaja Baba’s death and shrine
This special saint of Allah left this world on the 6th of Rajab, 632 AH. The shrine of Khwaja Baba is located at the foot of Taragarh hill in Ajmer, India. It is a very sacred place for everyone in the Indian subcontinent, regardless of their religion or caste.

In India, we have received the great initiation of Islam through the saints. More than a hundred caliphs of Khwaja Baba have also worked to convey the loving message of Islam to India. In 636 AD, the Indian Although the first ships arrived in the sea, Islam was fully propagated and established in India by Khwaja Baba and the caliphs he left behind. Some of the most prominent preachers of the religion in India were Khwaja Qutubuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, Khwaja Sheikh Farid, Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya, etc.

Religion in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is our beloved homeland. This independent country in the Indian subcontinent is 90 percent Muslim. Ikhtiyar Uddin Muhammad bin Bakhtiyya, long before Khalji’s conquest of Bengal (1201 AD), the arrival of Pir Auliyas started here and by whom the work of Islam was started. Not the sword of Bakhtiyar, but the spiritual power of Pir Auliyas and Sufi saints, the message of social equality, generosity and peace inherent in Islam attracted the people of this country.

Dr. Golam Sakalayan said, “The Hindu-Buddhist society of this country got such an ideal of simple and simple lifestyle from the Muslim Sufi saints and Pir Dervishes in mind and thought which was completely novel and surprising to them.”

The arrival of Islam with the message of peace and co-existence of the entire creation. Rasool (PBUH) is said to be the welfare of the entire creation. The truth of which was realized as a result of the arrival of Sufi saints in this country. Gopal Haldar said, “Niranjan was enraged by the Brahmins’ persecution of the Buddhists and engaged the gods against the Brahmins, the gods came in the form of Muslims.”

Islam came to Bangladesh more than 1300 years ago. But Bakhtiyar Khalji conquered Bengal only for eight hundred years. Since long before that, Islam has been propagated in this country by Aoli Auliyas.

Reasons for arrival of Aoli Auliyas in Indian subcontinent
We know that Arabia has not been safe for the progeny of the Prophet (pbuh) or the followers of the true religion of Mohammad since the brutal massacre by Yazid’s forces at Karbala.

So they come to Indian subcontinent or India to Bangladesh to save lives or spread religion. Following that, caravans of Auli Auliyas came to this country again and again. One of whom was the arrival of Hazrat Shahjalal and 360 Auliyas.

Most of the Auliya came to Bangladesh by sea. They settled in Chittagong and started living there permanently.

Arrival of Hazrat Shahjalal in Bangladesh
Hazrat Shahjalal’s Islamic preaching is a landmark event in the propagation of Islam in Bangladesh. He came to Bangladesh from Far Yemen on the orders of his Murshid Syed Ahmad Kabir (RA) and started preaching Islam. The popular story about Hazrat Shahjalal’s Islam propagation in Bangladesh is that when Haryat Shahjalal came to Sylhet, King Gaur Gobind was ruling in Sylhet. He was a very tyrannical ruler.

Then Sylhet and the kingdom of King Gaur Govinda was famous for witchcraft. A Muslim named Borhan Uddin lived in a place called Tultikor to the east of Sylhet in his kingdom. He sacrificed a cow on the occasion of his son’s aqeeqah. As soon as King Gaurgovinda heard this news, he killed his son and cut off his hand.

Battle with Gaudavinda
Nirupaya Borhan Uddin went to the court of the then King of Delhi, Sultan Alauddin Mahmud Shah and tried it. The king sent his nephew Sikandar Shah to give proper education to Gaur Gobind. But Hazrat Shahjalal was coming towards Sylhet when Sikandar Shah was returning defeated in the battle. They united and again defeated King Gauravinda through various miracles. And permanently established human religion Islam in Bangladesh.

Although many aulis and auliyas came to Bangladesh at different times, still Islam got permanent support in this country through the conquest of Bengal by Hazrat Shahjalal. Along with him, 11 auliyas and 360 auliyas all spread around Bengal and spread Islam.

Human Religion Islam – Establishing Peace
In the Indian subcontinent especially in Bangladesh we got Islam through Ali Allah. One of the elements of religious propagation and establishment is the Tabligh and Da’wa activities of Sufi saints and Ali Allahs. Ali Allah’s spiritual vision, generous mentality, extraordinary pure character, intense passion for knowledge, teaching to love people easily conquered the whole of Bengal.
