Eight Samans and Three Fundamental Principles of the Sufi Path

Hazrat Khwaja Hamiduddin Chishti Nagori (RA) was a great saint of the Chishti order and a disciple and caliph of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (RA). He was born in 589 AH or 1113 AD. After receiving the caliphate from Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (RA), he established a court in Nagaur, Rajasthan. Khwaja Hamiduddin Nagori passed away in 1276 AD. His holy shrine is located in Nagaur. Ursh Mubarak is celebrated there every year from 28 Rabi-us-Sani to 4 Jamadi-ul-Awal with great pomp and show.

Hazrat Khwaja Hamiduddin Nagori Chishti (RA) has spoken of the eight essentials of the path for the pilgrim on the path of spiritual love.

1. Knowledge – without which the pilgrim cannot perform correct actions.
2. Action – without which it is impossible to create a purpose.
3. Purpose – without which action is worthless.
4. Sincerity – without which love is not revealed.
5. Love – without which meditation is not established.
6. Meditation – without which the pilgrim does not progress.
7. Progress – without which it is not possible to open the divine door.
8. Opening the door – without which it is not possible to attain God.

The only success of the pilgrim on this path is to travel from the heart to the world of infinite consciousness of the soul.

Do you want to attain the Lord?
Become Lord-like through the pursuit of love.
This is a level where
knowledge cannot enter!
The heart is only a temporary abode
You should rather go –
To your eternal abode! To the soul!
Which is never destroyed.

In this difficult journey of existence, one has to accept all the hardships and sufferings with a smile.

All our actions could have been fruitful!
The friend could have repented for his cruelty!
Our flowing time could have been more favorable!
We too could have influenced our fate!
Alas!! Nothing happened to him!

Remember, the 3 special principles of the spiritual journey –

1. Before the Lord takes account of all your deeds, you yourself take the account of all your deeds. Judge yourself.
2. The person who thinks he is righteous, deceives himself.
3. The true worship of the fakir is to abandon all thoughts except the Lord.

If you follow the 3 principles, maybe you can even reach the door of the Lord.
